Sea Change | The Guesthouse is for Sale
Dear Pilgrims, Sojourners, and Friends,
Twenty years ago this November, I left my island home in Key West to go on pilgrimage for the first time. I took my first shaky steps from Vézelay, France, venturing into the unknown toward Santiago de Compostela, and on to Finisterra, the End of the Land.
I didn’t know it then, but that old Road had plans for me. It would, like a strange tide, continue to pull me back, and eventually assign me a berth in Rabanal del Camino, a mountain village on the Camino Frances. With help from a team of Angels in the Rigging, a little guesthouse made of stone was dreamed into being. There, for almost seven years I have cared for pilgrims from all over the world. I learned to whip up tasty loaves of banana bread just in time for check-in, and I became an Anam Cara—a soul friend—to many who stepped through the door.
I marvel at the holy privileges I've lived – very often challenging, but deeply meaningful. Through periods of solitude, piles of laundry, early breakfasts, blister tending, mountain rescues, and practicing compassion for myself and others, I am beginning to understand that it is all Grace. We are in this together, courage comes in so many forms, and the pilgrim path holds us all, without exception.
At the Writer’s Way Retreat in June, I heard the same mysterious winds that brought me here summoning me again to grow and change. It is time to take the Stone Boat off its mooring and navigate new literary and artistic endeavors.

A ‘letting go’ needs to happen before I can move on — thus this invitation. The guesthouse is now available for sale. If you dream of making a hospitality pilgrimage of your own, set out. This is a good time for brave, new, bold beginnings. I trust this message will reach the right person at the right time.

In a mountain village along the ancient Road to Santiago, under a field of stars, a guesthouse awaits its new steward. Built of stone and wood and restored with love, this haven is imbued with the Spirit of the Camino and the stories of countless pilgrims.
The guest house, nestled in the heart of Rabanal del Camino, features three well-appointed bedrooms accommodating up to five pilgrims. It offers a tranquil retreat for those on a sacred journey, with a kitchen, lounge, and private baths. The Camino de Santiago flows right past the front windows.
